How To Set Up Email Addresses For Your Recruitment Agency

Created by Robert Garner on Tue Apr 30 2024 and edited on Thu Aug 22 2024

There is a whole lot of work when it comes to setting up and maintaining the technical side of your recruitment business. This is part of a mini series of blog posts that will help you purchase the domain for your recruitment business, take you through how to set up hosting for your recruitment agency website and of course how to set up your email addresses.

Now as a preface to this you can purchase your domain from one company, set up email addresses with another firm and set up website hosting with another company altogether, however if possible I would recommend purchasing them all from the same company. The reason I recommend purchasing them all from one company is if anything goes wrong with any of them then you just have to contact one company and there’s no passing the blame. Alternatively you could just speak with your website developer who I’m sure will be happy to set them all up for you. At Abstraction Labs we work in partnership with Google and register your domain with Google Domains, set up your email with Google Workspaces and host your website with Google Hosting. Everything is all in one place with the world’s most trusted technology partner.

However if you’re looking to set up your email address by yourself then here’s a quick guide. If you’re launching your new recruitment agency then you’ll probably need two email addresses, one for you and a general address too. For example you may want john@greenrecruitment.co.uk and also info@... or hello@... I find having the info@ or hello@ adds an extra degree of professionalism and is great to have as the email address on your website’s contact page. Another point to consider before you register your email addresses is what should the format be? Should you go for firstName@ or firstInitial.lastName@ or firstName.lastName@? Bear in mind this will be the format of your email addresses going forward. You can change the format later on but it’s a bit of a hassle.

Now setting up your email addresses will be slightly different based on the email provider you choose but here are the rough steps.

First purchase a domain for your recruitment agency. There are literally hundreds of registrars out there such as GoDaddy, Namecheap or Google Domains.

Secondly, choose an email provider. Once again you’ll have dozens of options here such as Microsoft 365 (great if you currently have a Microsoft tech stack), Google (great if you’re opting for a Google tech stack), GoDaddy, IONOS, 123-Reg, etc.

Thirdly, sign up for an email plan with your chosen email provider: This will usually involve selecting the number of email addresses you need and choosing a billing period.

Fourthly, connect your domain. Your email provider should give you some easy to follow instructions to verify domain ownership and configure the necessary settings (MX records).

If you’re looking for a drag and drop template builder too then maybe set up your emails with them too, Wix, Squarespace and GoDaddy are all great options here.

We suggest Google Workspace as a brilliant value option. It’s only £5/month and on top of your email, you’ll have business access to Drive, Meet, Calendar, Chat, Doc, Sheets, Slides, Keep, Sites, Forms and AppSheet. You can set up two email addresses under one subscription (one main email address and one alias that points to the main address).

It’s really that simple. Nothing to it. If however you don’t want all the hassle and would rather focus on your new recruitment business then get in touch with us and we can register your domain, set up your email address, set up website hosting and design & develop your recruitment agency’s new website.
