50+ Recruitment Blog Ideas to Attract Clients, Candidates & Talent
Created by Robert Garner on Fri Aug 02 2024
Recruitment is tough right now, it’s competitive, everyone is doing something very similar and most agencies are trying to set themselves apart in some way. Well one way you can set yourself apart is through a well-crafted blog. It could be your secret weapon. Posting regular content is so important. Your recruitment blog does more than share insights – it builds your brand, nurtures leads, brings in traffic, gives you something to post about, keeps your website fresh, and establishes you as an industry authority. If you put time, effort and money into your blog then it can be a direct generator of revenue.
But where do you start? There’s lot of places where you can look for inspiration for your blog but I’ve put together a mega-list of recruitment blog ideas that you can of course steal but hopefully it will ignite your creativity and drive traffic to your website. Whether you're targeting eager candidates, potential clients or future recruitment talent we've got you covered.
You can of course lean on your years of experience and write about any of these topics yourself but there are lots of great recruitment content writers out there too, if you do need help. I will say one thing before we jump in and that is I would cross reference these with a selection of relevant keywords, focus on one keyword that sees a fair amount of traffic and has low competition and work that keyword as the angle to the blog.
Why Your Recruitment Agency Needs a Blog
A blog empowers your agency to:
- Share expertise: Demonstrate your unique understanding of the recruitment industry.
- Nurture leads: Provide valuable information that guides potential clients toward your services.
- Educate your audience: Offer tips and insights that benefit both candidates and clients.
- Build your brand: Showcase your agency's personality and company culture. I would always recommend having just one or two content writers for your blog so it sticks to a set personality. It’s best to work out a blog personality early on and stick to that, that personality consists of typical blog length, writing style, images used, links, etc.
- Drive organic traffic: Rank higher in search engines for relevant keywords. As mentioned previously, use the Google Keyword Planner to source a list of highly relevant keywords with low competition and use the keyword a few times throughout your blog to maximise success of ranking.
- Fuel your social media: I always hear recruiters moaning about not having enough to share on LinkedIn so why not create shareable content that boosts your online presence?!
Top Tips For Your Recruitment Blog
In order to be the most effective, recruiting blogs should also follow the following best practices:
- Create a regular schedule: I hate seeing blogs that have a consistent posting rhythm then are just left to die a slow death. Make a commitment to post a certain number of times each month (maybe 2-4) and stick to it.
- Ensure each article has a call to action: At the end of each article, the reader should be encouraged to do something - a positive action specifically. Personally I always have a call to action for our contact us page, encouraging the reader to get in touch.
- Use images: Images really do help to break up content and are useful for providing evidence for your opinion. Use photographs, pictures, AI generated images, graphs, charts, statistics and so on.
- Internal links: Always remember to use anchor text to link to other relevant, previous blog posts. And remember to go through your previous blog posts, looking for anchor text to link your newly written blog post to.
- Update your content: Turn your old content into new content. Go through your old blogs and freshen them, changing dates, updating information, editing text, etc. Google also prefers newer content so make sure each blog post has a displayed updated date too.
- Repurpose your content: You could quite easily spend an hour or two writing a blog post so don't just leave it as a blog post. Repurpose it for short form LinkedIn content, YouTube content, TikTok videos and so on. Start with long form content and reduce it to short form content.
- Offer genuine insight: The best blogs are the ones that offer true insight, not syndicated or generalised content. Add something new, new information, a counterpoint - make it unique.
- Research keywords: Each of your blogs should focus on one target keyword and that keyword should receive a fair amount of traffic. It should be reasonable for you to reach the first page based on your domain rating / authority. There’s no point writing content if no one is going to see it or find it.
- Integrate your content strategy with your social media strategy: All of your blog posts should be shared across your social media channels and remember to break your blog posts down into short form content that you can share too.
